The city sprawls along the river and overlooking the sea. What is at the Caunos: there is an Acropolis surrounded by the city walls, & agora & theatre & temples & harbour & Roman bath& underground cistern. Excavations here have been going on for 30 years but much of the city is yet to be revealed, but you will find a good theatre, baths and a Byzantine Basilica in reasonable condition.
Defensive Walls - to the NW and N of the site, 8m in height and remarkably well preserved in parts.
Acropolis Hill - the 150m summit is capped by Hellenistic ruins, an area of 800 sqm. Enclosed by a good ashlars wall.
Theatre - an impressive structure, two arched entrances survive and a fine rewards the climb to the 34th row of seats view across the city towards Suluklu Golu to the west.
Roman Bath - walking NW from the theatre you cross a large training ground and come to the site of the baths.
If did you want the visit Caunos city, you have firstly crossing the river with by rowboat at the end of the Dalyan harbour, and after than about ten minutes walking to the city. Also, in Dalyan if you book a daily boot trip,you will be have a time for visit the Caunos city
