David Bellamy helped stop any building on the beach(Dalyan iztuzu beach)to protect the sacred turtles'eggs. During the summer monts these ancient beasts slowly drag themselves up the beach at night to lay and bury their eggs in the sand.

When the tiny young hatch,they fallow the light of the moon on the water to find their way to the sea - an extraordinary sight and perhabs the most hazardous journey of their lives. Any light coming from any other source "for example, a hotel" would distract them, sending them in the wrong direction and to their deaths.

Sea turtles have been arround for 150 million years.They spent their whole lives in the water except for the brief times the females come onto land to nest and lay their eggs.
In the seas surrounding Dalyan iztuzu beach most visits by Loggerheads (Caretta caretta) turtles. The Loggerheads Caretta Caretta turtles may weigh betwen 300 and 400 pounds. It eat crabs and other sea animals for food.You can recognize it by its large,thick head and broad short neck.They all return to the same beach where they themselves hatched in order to lay their eggs when they reach maturity.This ability to swim sometimes thousans of km to reach their beach of origin.is this still a mystery.
A loggerhead turtle crawls from the sea to the edge of a beach.She pauses.What does she see. Apartment houses and hotels take up much of the beach. only a narrow strip of sand remains, and it is crowed with people. In some places cement has been poured across the sand clear to the edge of the water. There is no place for to nest.The turtels goes back to the sea and returns at the night. Hundreads of lights shine out from windows. The beach is bright. Elsewhere, along the coast, another turtle finds a small, undeveloped piece of beach and lays her eggs.When they hatct, the young turtles crawl toward the brightness, but it is not hte sea. It is the light of street lamps along a road that passes nearby.Yhe hatcling will be die in the burning sun later that day. Once there were hundreds of miles of open shore for Caretta caretta sea turtles to nest on safely. Its a different now.
